AEG extractor hob care guide: Do's and Don’ts
Resolution
Grease filters
The do’s
- Do clean the grease filters every 20–30 cooking hours. This helps prevent grease build-up, maintain good airflow and keep your extractor working efficiently.
- Do switch off the extractor hob before you start. Carefully remove the grid and filter housing before cleaning.
- Do clean the filters by hand or in the dishwasher. Use water and mild washing-up liquid for handwashing, or run a dishwasher cycle without detergent.
- Do let the filters dry completely. Only put them back once dry.
The don’ts
- Don’t use paper towels to dry the filters. Use a suitable lint-free cloth or leave them to air-dry.
- Don’t use the extractor hob without its filters. Always check they're correctly installed before use.
Carbon filters
The do’s
- Do clean or regenerate the carbon filters every 100–140 cooking hours. This helps maintain odour absorption and extraction performance.
- Do rinse by hand or wash them in the dishwasher. Use warm water and a soft sponge for handwashing, or a 65–70°C dishwasher cycle lasting over 90 minutes, without detergent or other dishes.
- Do dry or regenerate the filters as instructed. Air-dry overnight after cleaning, or regenerate in the oven at 100°C for 120 minutes without the fan running when the reminder symbol appears.
- Do reinstall the filters correctly. Make sure the fabric handle is visible from above, then reset the filter counter.
The don’ts
- Don’t regenerate the filters more than 8 times. Replace them after 8 regeneration cycles to maintain performance and safety.
- Don’t use detergent on carbon filters. Clean them with water only, as detergent can affect their odour-absorbing performance.
2-in-1 filters (grease and carbon)

- Do rinse by hand or wash them in the dishwasher. Use warm water and a soft sponge for handwashing, or a 65–70°C dishwasher cycle lasting over 90 minutes, without detergent or other dishes.
- Do dry or regenerate the filters as instructed. Air-dry overnight after cleaning, or regenerate in the oven at 80–100°C for 60 minutes without the fan running when the reminder symbol appears.
- Do reinstall the filters correctly. Make sure the darker side is visible from above, then reset the filter counter.
The don’ts
- Don’t regenerate the filters more than 7 times. Replace them after 7 regeneration cycles to maintain performance and safety.

A little regular maintenance goes a long way. Keep your hob in great condition with the right care products, spare parts and accessories.
