AEG induction hob care guide: Do's and Don’ts
Resolution
Taking care of your AEG induction hob helps keep it looking and performing at its best. Follow these simple do's and don'ts for everyday cleaning, filter maintenance, and safe use.
General operation and safety
The do’s
- Do use flat-bottomed cookware that matches the cooking zone. This helps ensure good contact with the hob surface for even heating.
- Do lift pots and pans when moving them. Avoid sliding cookware across the glass to help prevent scratches.
- Do keep ventilation openings clear and use the lock function when cleaning. This helps maintain airflow and prevents accidental activation of the controls.
The don’ts
- Don’t place hot cookware on the touch controls. Excessive heat can damage the control panel and sensitive electronics.
- Don’t drop heavy or sharp objects onto the glass. Impacts can cause cracks or other damage to the hob surface.
- Don’t let grease build up in the filters. Clean them regularly to maintain extraction performance and reduce fire risks.
Standard induction and ceramic hobs
The do’s
- Do let the hob cool before cleaning. Make sure the cooking zones have cooled completely before wiping them down.
- Do remove stubborn spills carefully. Use a dedicated hob scraper to remove burnt-on residue, melted plastic or sugary spills as soon as possible.
- Do clean with a soft cloth. Use a damp cloth and a suitable hob cleaner, such as Vitro Care, then dry with a soft cloth.
- Do wipe after each use. Once the hob has cooled, give the surface a gentle wipe to prevent grease and food residue from building up.
The don’ts
- Don't use abrasive cleaners. Avoid scouring pads, harsh detergents and abrasive products that could scratch or damage the glass.
- Don't leave sugary spills or melted plastic on the glass. Remove them promptly as reheating sugary residue can permanently damage the surface.
- Don't slide cookware with rough or dirty bases across the hob. Make sure the bottom of your pots and pans is clean, dry and smooth to help prevent scratches.
SaphirMatt® glass hobs
The do’s
- Do use a hob scraper for stubborn residue. Gently remove food residue and sugary spills once the glass has cooled.
- Do clean gently every day. Use a mild cleaner and a soft, scratch-free sponge to keep the matt surface clean.
- Do treat stubborn stains with care. Apply MATT CARE Hob Cleaner or a suitable mild cream cleaner. Leave for at least 5 minutes, then gently clean in circular motions with a delicate sponge.
- Do wipe and dry thoroughly. Remove any remaining cleaner with a soft, damp cloth, then dry with a microfibre cloth.
The don’ts
- Don't use standard yellow and green sponges. Their abrasive layers can scratch or discolour the matt glass surface.
- Don't use smooth-glass cream cleaners. They may not be effective on matt glass surfaces.
- Don't let cleaning products touch surrounding surfaces. Keep MATT CARE Hob Cleaner and similar products away from metal frames and worktops.
Metal side trims and gaps
The do’s
- Do use a soft cloth and mild washing-up liquid. Clean the metal side trims to help protect their finish.
- Do use a wooden toothpick to remove trapped dirt. Gently lift food particles from the gap between the glass and side trim.
The don’ts
- Don't use abrasive cleaning tools or products. Avoid harsh cleaners, polishing products, scrapers, and rough sponges, as they can scratch or damage the metal finish.
