Tumble Dryer Has No Power or Does Not Start

If your tumble dryer has no power, if the tumble dryer does not start, or if the tumble dryer does not react when you press the power button, the issue is often caused by a power supply problem, an activated child lock, overheating protection, or blocked airflow.

• No lights or indicators are illuminated.
• A programme cannot be selected.

Resolution

Start by checking the most common causes of the problem. In many cases, the dryer can be returned to normal operation without the need for a service visit.

Check the Power Supply

• Make sure the tumble dryer is securely plugged into a working wall socket.
• Test the wall socket with another electrical device, such as a lamp or hair dryer, to confirm it is supplying power.
• Check your home's fuse box or circuit breaker and reset any tripped switch if required.

Check the Door

• Make sure the door is fully closed. The tumble dryer will not start if the door is not securely shut.
• Check that no laundry is trapped in the door opening.
• Inspect the door latch for visible damage or misalignment.

Check the Control Panel

• Press the On/Off or Start button firmly.
• If the control panel does not respond, check whether the Child Lock is activated.
• If a padlock symbol is displayed, deactivate the child lock according to the instructions in your user manual.
• Press the highlighted buttons – on some models, you need to press and hold two buttons simultaneously, while on others, you only need to hold one button for 3–5 seconds. The child lock buttons are usually marked on the control panel with a padlock symbol.

Reset the Tumble Dryer

• Disconnect power at the wall socket or circuit breaker.
• Wait around 5 minutes.
• Reconnect the power supply.
• Check whether the issue has been resolved.

Check the Programme Settings

• Select a drying programme.
• Check that Delay Start is not activated.
• Start the programme again.

Allow the Tumble Dryer to Cool Down

• If the tumble dryer stopped unexpectedly during a programme, overheating protection may have been activated.
• Allow the tumble dryer to cool down for 30 to 60 minutes before trying again.

Clean the Filter and Condenser

• Clean the lint filter and condenser.
• Restricted airflow can affect performance and may prevent the tumble dryer from operating correctly.
• Clean the filter after every drying cycle for best performance.
