AEG washing machine – how to connect your washing machine to the app

You want to connect your AEG washing machine to the My AEG Care app so you can control and monitor the machine from your smartphone.

Once the connection has been established, you can, among other things:

• view status of wash programmes
• receive notifications
• use remote start
• get access to extra programmes
• receive software updates for the product

Follow the steps below to connect your AEG washing machine to the app.

1. Check the requirements

Before you start, you will need:

• a wireless home network with an internet connection
• a smartphone or tablet
• AEG app installed
• access to your Wi-Fi network name and password

AEG washing machines support 2.4 GHz WiFi networks (IEEE 802.11 b/g/n).

2. Download the AEG app

Download the AEG app to your smartphone.

You can:

• scan the QR code on the product’s nameplate
• get the app in the App Store or on Google Play

3. Create or log in to your account

Open the app and:

1. select country and language
2. log in to your account
3. or create a new account

Then follow the instructions in the app.

4. Activate Wi-Fi setup on the washing machine

To put the washing machine into Wi-Fi setup mode:

1. Turn on the washing machine.
2. Wait about 10 seconds.
3. Select a programme.
4. Hold the Remote Start button or the Fabric Softener and Detergent buttons (Autodose) down for a few seconds until you hear a sound.

The display then shows the access point mode AP (Access Point), and the Wi-Fi icon starts flashing.

Refer to your user manual for model-specific details.

5. Create the connection in the app

When access point mode is active:

1. Select Add product in the app.
2. Follow the instructions on the screen.
3. Select your home network.
4. Enter the WiFi password.

The starting point is normally active for about 3 minutes.

6. Wait for confirmation

When the connection has been established:

• stopped the WiFi icon from flashing
• the washing machine connects to the network automatically
• the product is shown in the AEG app

Every time the washing machine is switched on, it automatically tries to connect to the saved Wi-Fi network.

7. Enable remote start (optional)

If you want to start programs via the app:

1. Press Remote Start.
2. Then press Start/Pause.

The door locks and remote start is activated. After this, the programme can be started from the app.

Important

The connection cannot be completed if:

• the phone is not connected to WiFi
• the network only uses 5 GHz frequency
• the washing machine is not in Wi-Fi setup mode
• The WiFi signal is too weak / unstable

It is recommended that you stand close to the washing machine during installation.

When is it not a mistake?

It’s not an error if the connection doesn’t succeed the first time.

This is often due to:

• incorrect Wi-Fi password
• wrong network selected
• weak / unstable signal
• missing WiFi setup on the product

In most cases, the connection can be established by completing the setup again.

Cause

AEG washing machines are delivered with the WiFi function disabled from the factory.

To be able to communicate with the AEG app, the product must first be registered and connected to a local WiFi network. After this, the app can communicate with the washing machine and provide access to additional functions and services.
