How to clean and maintain your AEG air purifier
Resolution

By taking good care of your AEG air purifier, it will last longer and perform better. Clean it and replace filters regularly so it continues to effectively clean the air in your home.
Cleaning the air purifier
- Unplug the unit.
- Use a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush to remove dust from the sensor area. Vacuum at least monthly. Dust in the air quality sensor can affect performance and lead to incorrect sensor readings.
- Clean the plastic parts of the unit with an oil-free dry cloth.
- For stains on plastic parts, gently rub the stain with a slightly damp, soft microfiber cloth.
Cleaning the filters
The air purifier has several filters, which can be placed in different ways. The multi-layer filters in your air purifier are either washable or need to be replaced. Check the user manual to see what applies to your unit.
The mesh pre-filter
Clean the mesh pre-filter regularly by wiping it off with a cloth or using a vacuum cleaner.
Cleaning multi-layer filters
Clean the fabric attached to the front panel by wiping it with an oil-free dry cloth or using a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush.
The area around the air inlet on the front of the unit can collect more dust than other parts. You might need to clean this area with a dry cloth more often to make sure the unit works effectively.
Clean the humidification filter by taking it out and rinsing it. Use clean water (max 40 degrees) and citrus acid or neutral detergent to remove lime scale. Put the filter back into the unit when it is dry.
Replacing multi-layer filters
The air purifier will let you know when it is time to change filters. It does so in three different ways:
- The filter change icon will light up on the product control panel.
- The fan speed can be reduced in SMART mode.
- The app will show details on the filter life status.
Here is how you replace the filter:
- Turn off the air purifier or unplug the unit.
- Before opening the main unit, make sure you have a disposable bag available to place the used filter. The used filter might be full of dust and particulate matter.
- Remove the filter and place it in a disposable bag.
Important: Do not touch the fan blade when removing the multi-layer filter. - Remove the replacement filter from the plastic bag and insert it into the air purifier.
- Press the mode button for 3 seconds so the filter change indicator resets. Note: On air purifiers equipped with RFID filters, this reset happens automatically, without any action needed on the user’s side.
- Check the filter lifetime on the app. In case the change is only reflected on the product control panel and not the app, please restart the app and the unit before further troubleshooting.
Storing the air purifier
If you are not planning to use the air purifier for a while, make sure you store it properly.
- Unplug the unit.
- Clean the mesh filter.
- Cover the unit with something that does not scratch the surface of the unit. This way, it won't collect dust.
- For the Humidification model, also make sure to empty the filter drawer, remove the humidification filter and let it dry, and empty the water tank before storing the product, to avoid mold buildup inside the product, which could lead to undesired smells.
