How to use AutoDose on your AEG washing machine
Resolution
AEG washing machines with AutoDose have an automatic dosing system that dispenses the right amount of detergent and fabric softener based on load size and laundry programme. This improves the wash performance and protects garments*.
*Maintains 85% of original garment strength after 50 washes, based on external testing by Ritex testing lab on a 4kg load washed at 40°C
Selected AEG washing machines have the AutoDose function.
Detergent drawer with AutoDose dispensers
Depending on your specific model, your detergent drawer will have either three or four compartments.
Models with 3 sections
The drawer has three sections – two AutoDose dispensers and one manual compartment. This makes both automatic and manual dosing possible.
- AutoDose dispensers:The AutoDose dispensers are pre-set for liquid detergent in the left dispenser and fabric softener in the right dispenser, using an optimal configuration designed for most washing conditions. This setup is ideal if you typically use both detergent and softener, although you can switch either one off at any time. You can also replace the softener with the same detergent used in the left compartment (to increase autonomy) or with a delicate detergent, depending on your needs.
- Manual compartment: The manual compartment offers flexible use. For example, the compartment can be used for special detergents such as those for whites, darks, or delicates. You can use either liquid or powder in this compartment.
Models with 4 sections
The detergent drawer features four separate sections, consisting of two AutoDose dispensers and two manual compartments. This versatile design allows you to choose between automatic and manual dosing for your laundry.
- AutoDose Dispensers:Pre-set for liquid detergent (left) and softener (right). Either or both can be turned off at any time.
- Manual Compartments:The left manual compartment is typically for special detergents (whites, blacks, delicates), while the right manual compartment is for fabric softener or additives such as water-repellent agents. Both can be used with liquid or powder.
How to fill detergent and fabric softener
- Open the detergent drawer and lift the AutoDose lid
- Pour liquid detergent into the left AutoDose dispenser up to the MAX line
- Optional: Add fabric softener to the right-hand AutoDose dispenser up to the MAX line
- Close the AutoDose lid and the detergent drawer
The product will let you know when the dispensers are running low. An indicator will blink on the display until you refill the dispensers.
The preset detergent dosage may need adjusting depending on water hardness and the type of detergent used. If your water hardness level is set on the appliance, make sure the dosage follows the detergent manufacturer’s recommendations for that specific hardness level. In cases of very hard water, or when using particular detergents, you may need to increase or reduce the preset dosage accordingly.
Important: Only use liquid detergent and softener in the AutoDose dispensers. Do not use powder detergent or pods, or fragrance-based products, in these dispensers.
How to wash with AutoDose
Automatic dosing will be applied if the selected wash programme is compatible. When you select a compatible wash programme, the AutoDose symbols will appear on the display. If one or both symbols are not shown, you need to manually add detergent in the dedicated manual compartment.
Note: The wool programme (available on selected models) is an example of a programme that is not compatible with AutoDose, since wool requires a special detergent. Therefore, when using the wool programme, add detergent to the manual compartment instead.
How to use manual dosing
If you want to use manual dosing, press the AutoDose symbols on the display to switch off auto dosing for detergent and/or softener.
Important: If AutoDose is not switched off, there may be an overdose of detergent, as detergent will be dispensed both from the AutoDose dispenser and the manual compartment.
How to configure dispensers (optional)
In addition to using the AutoDose compartments in a pre-set way, two further configurations are available for the right-hand tank to set it for fabric softener instead. If you have connected your washing machine to the AEG app, you can configure the dispensers via the app.
- Using the AutoDose dispensers for two different types of liquid detergent.Recommended if you often use different detergents. For example, you might use different detergents for colours and whites. Before each wash cycle, choose the dispenser you want to use.
- Combining the AutoDose dispensers into one large tank for liquid detergent.Best if you usually use one detergent and rarely or never use fabric softener. AutoDose will dispense from both dispensers until the detergent runs out.
Connect to the app for additional benefits
Connect your washing machine to the app to quickly change settings and configurations. The app will notify you when it’s time to refill the AutoDose dispensers, so you never run out. Plus, you can monitor the status of your wash and get cleaning reminders.
