Resolution
Recirculation or extraction?
In recirculation mode, cooker hoods use a fan to draw in fumes, pass them through a grease filter made of metal (permanent filter) or non-woven fabric (disposable filter) to remove grease for hygiene reasons, and then absorb odours using an integrated activated carbon filter. The cleaned air is then returned to the room.
In extraction mode, kitchen cooker hoods use a fan to draw in fumes, pass them through a grease filter made of metal (permanent filter) or non-woven fabric (disposable filter) to remove grease for hygiene reasons, and then expel the filtered air outside. In the case of chimney hoods, the exhaust air can be routed through the wall behind the hood or via a side extraction duct.
Most cooker hoods can be installed in recirculation or extraction mode.
Right from the start, you need to specify the type of installation.
Wherever possible, we recommend installing the hood in extraction mode, which provides greater effectiveness.
- Extractor version - The cooker hood draws in air containing fumes and odours and expels it outside through an exhaust duct.
- Recirculating version (closed circuit) - The cooker hood draws in air containing fumes and odours, purifies it using a filter, and returns the cleaned air back into the room. It requires the use of additional, replaceable charcoal filters.
The illustration below shows example methods of installing the kitchen hood in both versions
Detailed information on installing the hood is available in the installation manual supplied with the appliance, or on our website.
